Shaker-Inspired Bench Workshop – Two Evening
Create a beautiful Shaker-style bench while mastering the use of table, miter, and band saws in this engaging workshop. This project is designed to last for years and adds a touch of craftsmanship to your house.
What You’ll Learn:
- Cross and Rip Cuts: Master straight and angled cuts using table and miter saws.
- Curved Cuts: Learn to cut elegant curves with a band saw.
- Simple Dados: Understand how to cut basic dados for added stability.
- Through-Mortise and Tenon Joints: Discover how to create strong, traditional joinery.
- Doweling Techniques: Learn to use dowels for reinforcing glued joints.
We look forward to seeing you in class and helping you create a beautiful and shaker inspired bench!
Note: This class has a minimum age of 15. All those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Woodworking is my muse—a canvas of endless possibilities. The grain’s texture, the earthy scent, the myriad shapes—it all amazes me. My journey began with grade school projects and blossomed at Bucks Rock as a camper and counselor. From theater sets to boat building, I’ve embraced woodturning as my core hobby. Now, as a marketer turned woodworking teacher, I’m thrilled to share the joy of “making” with others. Let’s shape creativity together!
Most of our classes utilize reclaimed lumber. This class utilizes milled lumber to reduce the build time. We can add a session if you desire to mill your lumber for this class.
Our Focus on Safety
- Respect the shop rules and safety guidelines before using any tools or equipment.
- N95 masks, safety glasses, and gloves are provided.
- Wear something you don’t mind getting dirty. The glues, paints, and stains we use can permanently stain clothes.
The maximum class size to allow for highly personalized instruction and attention is two (2) people. Let me know if you would like a larger size and we can certainly bring along an assistant to help out.
