Hand-Turned Maple Bowl – Artisan Woodwork by Dan Katz – This bowl was hand-turned from a single piece of maple crotch wood, carefully shaped on the lathe to bring out the grain’s natural flow.

This bowl was hand-turned from a single piece of maple from the crotch of the tree.

It’s been finished with mineral oil and beeswax, which gives it a soft sheen and highlights the subtle details in the grain.

This is the kind of piece that doesn’t shout for attention, but it draws your eye anyway. It’s meant to be a quiet showstopper on a shelf, table, or mantle.

  • Height: ~3.5 in.

  • Opening Diameter: ~ 13 in.

  • Base Width: ~ 8 in.

  • Finish: Mineral oil and beeswax
