Our kiln drying service is perfect for those looking to transition from the lengthy air-drying process to kiln drying for small batches. While our kiln can handle up to 2,500 board feet per load, we often run smaller batches. The average drying cycle ranges from 3 to 5 weeks, depending on wood type, thickness, and starting moisture.
Our Kiln
Our custom-built wood kiln supports up to 2,500 board feet per load. It uses a combination of solar thermal and electrical heating elements, along with dehumidifiers and fans for air circulation. These elements are monitored by our onsite staff to ensure excellent results in a shorter time than air drying and at a lower cost than larger operations.
Drying Rates
Our standard rate is $1.25 per board foot for lumber less than 2 inches thick, with a minimum requirement of 50 board feet. Costs vary based on species, thickness, moisture content, and quantity. Clients can choose a daily rate of approximately $0.25 per board foot per day or a rate aimed at achieving a specific moisture percentage. Additional loading and unloading fees may apply depending on the quantity.
